Rubik's Cube Artwork

Artist and designer Pete Fecteau spent the better part of 2010 creating a mosaic of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. using 4,242 Rubik’s Cubes. The mosaic measures 18’6″ by 9’8″ and weighs approximately 1,000 pounds. This project called Dream Big.
“I woke up from the dream and it was like I was on fire. I spend three hours that morning writing down the concept and brainstorming. When I stepped back I realized how bat-s*** crazy it was but there was something pushing me to make it a reality. Sometimes I don’t think I woke up from that dream. It still seems crazy.”

The "iPod" of Thermostats

Tony Fadell invented the iPod. Okay, he didn't do it singlehandedly--but the former Apple executive conceived it, got Apple on board, and then went on to shepherd the development of 18 (!) generations of the company's signature pre-iPhone product. In 2008 he left Apple and several years later founded a stealth startup called Nest Labs, which was revealed this year to be in the... thermostat business. Wait, what?

Yeah, you read that right. But not just a thermostat--the iPod of thermostats: a device so desirable and intuitive that it'll turn home energy management into a must-have symbol of sustainable living. Fadell told Co.Design he intends the Nest Learning Thermostat, which will retail for $249.99 starting in November, to be "a jewel on the wall... most people try to hide the thermostat, but we're trying to make it sexy and coveted so that you cherish it, and at parties people ask you about it and you're proud of it." Big talk--but watch this teaser video and you just might become a believer:

"It's actually amazing. The automatic stabilisation seems to work wonders, and gets rid of most the jello. Depth of field is flipping awesome. Colours are really good straight out the camera, but I did give this footage a slight grade with the 3-way colour wheel in Final Cut"

Siri is obviously getting a lot of hype (and deservingly so) as the can't miss feature on the new iPhone. However, Apple also upgraded the camera and this video shows just how powerful the new camera is. Look at the quality of those shots! Read more!

Anyways, i clicked on it and it led to this website. wtf right? long story short, i find out today that its a viral campaign for the Black Keys' new album "El Camino," set for release on dec 6th. and there's a "teaser" video too:

I'll be the first to admit I didn't get into Phoenix until only a year ago when I heard them on Pandora, but in that short of a time I've come to love their music. This is a documentary coming out in the fall. Aside from the obvious focus on Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, it's difficult to tell what themes the film will actually pursue. I hope it will have more direction than other projects that attempted to document the lives of a rock star, namely that documentary about lil' Wayne which seemed to have been thrown together by a 10 year old. Drake Moves Album Back to November 15

via Drake's OVO blog.

The new date for Take Care is November 15th, 2011. I managed to create this album in my hometown of Toronto and the thoughts and stories I wanted to get across just became so clear. It truly felt like when I was here 3 years ago making So Far Gone. So I have completed 19 songs (17 on physical and 2 on bonus), and have run into a roadblock of clearing 3samples in time to make the October 24th date. My options were to take the songs off and make the birthday release happen, or to take an extra couple weeks to get the paper work right and give you the album they way I NEED you to hear it. The choice was clear as day for me. November 15th you will getTake Care the exact way I created it with no trimmings. This music means too much to me to get attached to dates and I do apologize for the delay but I promise that it is only for the benefit of our experience together. Club Paradise Tour will also be moved to when students are back from the Christmas/New Year break so that I can get to moreschools. New dates will be released in the next week…see you all soon. - Drake
